Can you
imagine when you look out the clubhouse windows that this was once
the site of a large sand and gravel quarry?
In 1971,
renowned architect Rene Muylaert was commissioned to develop and
implement a multi-stage plan for the site. This plan later became
the role model for many sand and gravel firms land rehabilitation
projects.
In 1980,
an 18-hole semi-private facility was born (with four supplementary
holes located across Cream Street as well). In 1993 a beautiful
clubhouse and pro shop was added to include Peninsula Lakes Golf
Club as a full service facility.
In 2000,
came renovations to house the rapid growth of the facility. Property
was purchased and additional development was added to the adjacent
four holes. This addition became known as the Orchard Nine. The
original front was renamed the Quarry Nine and the original back
became known as the Hillside Nine.
Recently
all of the sand traps have been changed to Ohio white. This has
added much character to the well-designed bunkers. Located atop
the escarpment, the course has many scenic vistas to compliment
the immaculately manicured and maintained fairways and speedy greens.
And don't forget about our beautiful gardens, adding a touch of
class to each tee block.
