Steve Christie

Head Golf Professional / Tournament Co-ordinator

Unlike most golf professionals, Steve did not start playing golf at an early age. It wasn’t until the second year of high school that he first picked up a club, but from that point on…he was hooked forever! With a lot of hard work and practice, by the end of high school he had become a scratch golfer.

Steve started his career in the golf business in 1993 as the starter at St. Catharines Golf and Country Club. Over a period of nine years he worked his way up through the ranks and eventually became the Club’s Associate Golf Professional. Steve left St. Catharines in 2002 when he accepted a position at the newly built Legends on the Niagara, where became the Tournament Coordinator and oversaw the entire tournament operation. At the time it was the the largest golf development project in Canada, and they were specializing in both tournament and events.

In the summer of 2003 an amazing opportunity came along and Steve was offered a position as Tournament & Marketing Coordinator here at Peninsula Lakes, with the responsibility of increasing tournament and group play.

Currently, as the Head Golf Professional, Steve is directly responsible for the execution of all corporate and charity golf tournaments. He has personally executed more than 100,000 tournament rounds, ranging from the most high profile events in the region to a group of forty buddies celebrating a stag.

Steve has a BA in Economics and Sociology and has been a member of the PGA of Canada for almost 20 years.

If you are planning any type of golf tournament or event, or just organizing a golf trip to Niagara, Steve should be your first call!
