Steve has personally executed more than 100,000 tournament rounds, from the most high-profile charity events in the region to a group of forty buddies celebrating a stag. Sobeys Charity Golf Tournament held at Peninsula Lakes Golf Course on Monday June 15, 2015 was a successful event. Contributing to the success was the warm hospitality we received from Peninsula Lakes.

Please extend a huge THANK YOU from Ron Kore, Sobeys Fonthill and myself to all staff that were part of this event. It is most enjoyable to coordinate an event when you have the support of the venue. We were pleased to be welcomed and supported with planning, set-up, golf, serving and food preparation staff as well as management, and attention to detail on all fronts from the time we arrived early in the day until we closed down and left in the evening was great.

There were many compliments from event guests about the golf course and the views from the clubhouse, but also around the great facilities and hospitality. All staff are to be commended—a great team.

On August 19th 2013 Peninsula Lakes Golf Club hosted the United Way of St. Catharines & District Annual Golf Tournament under perfect weather conditions. This was the second consecutive year that the tournament has been played at this venue and it is my pleasure to inform you, as to why.

The team leaders at Peninsula Lakes Golf Course (Tom Vanderlip & Steve Christie) have found a way to teach and empower every single staff member at this establishment the art of delivering “total customer satisfaction.” More importantly the staff delivers with enthusiasm, fun and pride. They deliver the feeling of “it’s my pleasure and thanks for being here.” Never have I had that comment made to me by so many of attendees. They are truly a wonderful group of professionals that are responsible for the success we enjoy each and every year.

Hosting a major golf tournament with 167 participants and another 25 board and committee members is always a major undertaking. Over the past twenty years of being the chairman of this event it is normal to face some minor problems that in most cases are “unavoidable”.  At Peninsula Lakes Golf Club there is no such thing as “unavoidable situations” because their attention to detail is remarkable. They are prepared for whatever might happen and handle it without anyone even knowing.

Over the past two years the food and beverage staff has exceeded everyone’s expectations. I really don’t think that attendees expect fine dining at a golf tournament however the food, the presentation, and the selection leave everyone raving after the meal. This has always been a common compliment from our guests and I hope your staff is aware of how much we appreciate their efforts.

“The Best or Nothing” is the corporate Motto at Mercedes Benz headquarters in Germany. I wonder if Tom Vanderlip once worked there.
